OUGD603 / Extended Practice - D&AD John Lewis: Final designs and production.

OUGD603.
JOHN LEWIS.
FINAL DESIGNS AND PRODUCTION.

Today I worked on Vectorising the bow design that will feature on the top/ sides of all 3 John Lewis delivery boxes. Caitlin sketched up a bow for me to then vectorise on screen. I was happy with the design that Caitlin gave me, I felt the bow was very reminiscent of those found on traditional gifts.

I produced the bow in illustrator.

I also incorporated the tag design that would signify to customers that their package is from John Lewis, which we decided upon during my box experiments. I think this addition really helps to push fourth the concept of the delivery being a gift rather than just a normal order.

I then edited the bow to have the correct size and placement for each different size net that we have.

Recycle sticker:
Caitlin also made a small clear sticker to place on the back of each box to let recipients know that the materials used in creating the box were 100% recyclable, meaning that the boxes have another purpose after use, rather than just being thrown in the bin.

Production:

After laser cutting the nets, we prepared the screens to screen print the bows and john Lewis inside flap logo onto each box.

When the screens were ready, we took the time to try and mix the perfect John Lewis green so that the box is instantly identifiable with the brand.

We then screen printed each box with the John Lewis bow and secondary logo, trying to get them exactly in the centre on each box.

We followed up the printing of the boxes by digitally printing all other elements.

We then constructed each box, Perforating the sections that would be peeled away as part of the ribbon design, and gluing/folding the rest together.
