Alice in Wonderland for MAC cosmetics.

I had a look back again at the current collections to decipher how many piece of packaging I should create, therefore knowing what I had to work with. 

Venemous villains: 40 products. 

The Simpsons collection: 9 products. 

Rocky horror picture show collection: 21 products. 

I found that by looking back at the collections, there was a product range of anything between 2 and 40 products. I decided to try and do a round number of 15 products, creating packaging for each of the different products usually included in the collections at MAC (mascara, lipstick etc). The collections could then be expanded and the packaging multiplied if needs be. I have listed below the collection of products I will be designing packaging for:

- 2 quad (4x) eyeshadow pallets.

- 3 lipsticks.

- 2 blushes. 

- 1 powder highlighter. 

- 1 mascara.

- 1 eyeliner.

- 2 lipglosses.

- 3 nail polishes. 

In order to give myself some further inspiration in terms design, and add context to the collection, I used the research I collected from watching the film, to help name each of the products and give them colours. Below is the collection named:

Eyeshadow quad one:

Down the rabbit hole - deep brown.

Cheshire cat - purple.

Drink me - forest green.

Bandersnatch - grey.

Eyeshadow quad two:

Hair of the hatter - pale orange. 

Jabberwocky - copper.

White rabbit - shimmery white.

Teacup - pink. 

Lip stick one: Queen of hearts. - Bright red.

Lipstick two: Red knight. - Dark red.

Lipstick three: muchier magenta. - Bright pink.

Blush one: Royal flush. - rose pink. 

Blush two: Wonderland. - pale peach.

Highlighter: Its my dream. - white/gold base. 

Mascara: Enchanting lash. 

Eyeliner: Curiouser. - metallic charcoal.

Lipgloss 1: Tweedle dum  - light pink.

Lipgloss 2: Tweedle dee  - bright pink. 

Nail polish one: White queens crown. chrome gold.

Nail polish two:  Underland - black with red glitter.

Nail polish three:  Alice attire. - electric blue.


DIMENSIONS.

Now knowing exactly what I am going to be packaging, I need to figure out the size of each piece of packaging, so that I know exactly what I am working with. Luckily, I already have some of the products described above and so I can already figure out the sizes needed. However, for others I may have to visit a mac counter and grab the exact dimensions. It is important to try and get the size of each piece of packaging to be consistent with the original/other collections as this is partly what makes MAC products so identifiable when not in their classic black and white format. 

For the products I already own, I will take the dimensions of the product, and add 2mm onto each measurement to allow the product to fit into the box. 
For the products I do not own, I will visit a counter and take the dimensions of the boxes.
